Fixed-term contracts
The law on fixed-term employment contracts changed in 2002, making fixed-term employment far more complex and onerous for employers. In simple terms, the Fixed-term Employees (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations require that fixed-term employees should not be treated less favourably than comparable permanent employees on the grounds they are fixed-term employees - unless this can be objectively justified. However, there are other requirements of which employers need to be aware.
